Manchester United is heading to Malaysia for a thrilling exhibition match against ASEAN All-Stars on May 28, 2025, at Bukit Jalil Stadium. Discover why this match is highly anticipated and what it means for Southeast Asian football fans.

Kuala Lumpur – Football fans across Southeast Asia are in for a treat as Manchester United prepares to make a highly anticipated return to Malaysia. The Red Devils, currently coached by Ruben Amorim, will embark on a post-season tour in May 2025, which includes an exciting exhibition match against ASEAN All-Stars.

The match is scheduled to take place on May 28, 2025, at the iconic Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. According to Malaysia's prominent media outlet, New Strait Times, Manchester United’s tour will also include a stop in Hong Kong as part of their international pre-season plans.

“The game will be part of their overseas journey to Malaysia and Hong Kong,” reported New Strait Times. The team is set to fly to Kuala Lumpur right after their final English Premier League match against Aston Villa on May 25.

This tour marks Manchester United’s first visit to Malaysia since 2009, and their return has generated immense excitement among football fans in the region. The club enjoys a massive following across Southeast Asia, and the exhibition match against ASEAN All-Stars is expected to draw thousands of supporters. "Playing against the ASEAN All-Stars will capture the attention of fans from all over the region. It's going to be a football spectacle for fans," New Strait Times continued.

In addition to Manchester United's star power, the match has also sparked significant interest in Indonesia, as players from the Indonesian national team are likely to be part of the ASEAN All-Stars squad. However, Indonesian players based in Europe will need to wait until the end of May to conclude their seasons before joining the squad.

The same challenge applies to Indonesian players in the domestic Liga 1, which will wrap up its 2024-2025 season on May 24. Despite these scheduling conflicts, three Indonesian representatives from Thailand’s league, which finishes on April 27, 2025, are expected to participate. Similarly, two players from Malaysia’s league, ending on April 20, 2025, are likely to be involved.

For Manchester United, this match represents a special moment as they reengage with their massive fan base in Southeast Asia. The last time they visited Malaysia was in 2009, where they played two friendly matches against the Malaysian national team at the same venue, Bukit Jalil Stadium. United won both matches with scores of 3-2 and 2-0, thrilling fans with star players such as Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, and Edwin van der Sar, all under the leadership of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

Under Ruben Amorim's guidance, Manchester United is looking to recreate that magic once again, delivering an unforgettable experience to fans in Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region.

As football fever intensifies, all eyes will be on Bukit Jalil Stadium on May 28, 2025, when Manchester United clashes with ASEAN All-Stars, providing a thrilling showcase of skill, excitement, and football excellence.
