Fahmy emphasized, "There have been no real results achieved by Prabowo in the ESDM sector in 100 days." He stated that Prabowo's commitment to achieving energy self-sufficiency within 4-5 years through the development of renewable energy (EBT) needs to be backed by more consistent policies.
He criticized the government’s focus on prioritizing fossil fuel development, such as oil and coal, which he believes contradicts the commitment to transition to renewable energy. Fahmy pointed out, "Boosting oil lifting and coal production undermines Prabowo's commitment," which could hinder the government’s efforts to attain energy self-sufficiency.
Furthermore, Fahmy expressed concern about the initiative by the People's Representative Council (DPR) to grant special mining business licenses (IUPK) to universities, stating that it does not align with Prabowo's commitment to energy transition. This policy may lead to increased coal production instead of focusing on the development of renewable energy. "The DPR's initiative to grant mining concessions to higher education institutions also contradicts Prabowo's commitment as it boosts dirty coal production," he explained.
Fahmy added, "Prabowo needs to reevaluate current policies," to ensure that the commitment to achieving renewable energy-based energy self-sufficiency is not just mere rhetoric.
As global attention on sustainability and clean energy development continues to rise, it is crucial for the government to conduct a thorough evaluation of current energy policies and ensure that long-term goals for energy transition can be realized.
